BIOENERGY

Angola's government has shown interest in diversifying the country's energy matrix, more especifically by investing in the ethanol sector.

The main example of such interest would be Angola's Bioenergy Company or Biocom, in portuguese. Biocom was effectively set up in 2012 and constitutes a partnership among private companies (Odebrecht and Cochan) and the government (Sonangol). It is a large-scale cultivation of sugar cane located in Malange that aims to produce sugar, ethanol and to export energy.
