BRAZIL

Angola and Brazil enjoy good and historical bilateral relations. Brazil was the first country to recognize Angola's independence and, nowadays, has tried to be a major player in the national reconstruction plan. Bilateral credit agreements have allowed some Brazilian companies to boost their presence in the Angolan reconstruction policies, contributing to increase trade and investment flows.

TRADE

In 2014, Angola exported US$ 1,1 billion in mineral fuels, oils and distillation products to Brazil. There were no other products exported from Angola to Brazil last year.

INVESTMENTS

Brazilian Investments in Angola are mainly represented by construction companies such as Odebrecht, Andrade Gutierrez and Queiroz Galvão. Odebrecht was the first Brazilian construction company in the Angolan market. The company started its works in the African country in 1984, by building the Capanda Hydroelectric. Odebrecht remains very relevant in Angola and has expanded its activities to others sectors besides construction, such as bioenergy, oil, food distribution, among others. It is worth noting that the Brazilian company is the biggest private employer in Angola.
Since the end of Angola's civil war, Brazilian government has expanded bilateral credit lines in order to become an important player in national reconstruction by boosting the presence of such Brazilian construction companies in Angola.
