Angola and India historically maintain good bilateral relations. Currently, the partnership between the two countries is very diversified, covering sectors such oil, natural gas, diamonds and the whole process of national reconstruction of Angola. In January 2010, for instance, Sonangol and India's Oil and Natural Gas Commission (ONGC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding according which the two institutions would established cooperation in Angola, India and also in other countries. 
 
Besides, India has also managed to be an important partner in Angola's post-war reconstruction. In 2005, India and Angola established the first inter-governmental initiative for boosting the African country national reconstruction. India's government extended to Angola's government a US$ 40 million credit line for covering India's participation in the rehabilitation of Angolan railway infrastructure. Since then, others Indian credit lines for Angola were successively extended, leading the State Bank of India to established a Representative Office in Luanda. The credit lines now cover machinery imports, agriculture, industry, among others.
 
 

TRADE

 
In 2013, according to data provided by the International Trade Centre, bilateral trade between Angola and India generated a positive balance for Angola equal to US$ 6,2 million.
 
 
 

INVESTMENTS

 
The presence of Indian companies in Angola is still quite limited. Generally, Indian presence is most noted in sectors such steel and plastic or through the establishment of trading companies. Besides, the Indian company Mohan Exports has been producing shoes in Angola under a contract with the Angolan army, generating 1500 local jobs.
