PORTUGAL
Angola and Portugal present a long history of bilateral ties which date back to colonial times. Since the end of Angola's civil war, in April 2002, Portuguese presence remains very relevant in the country, mainly through investments in the national reconstruction plan. However, it is important to mention that, nowadays, this relationship is also marked by Angola's investments in Portugal.

INVESTMENTS
Investments between Portugal and Angola have been characterized by mutual flows. Concerning the Portuguese presence in Angola, it is worth mentioning the presence of construction companies such as Mota Engil, Soares da Costa, Teixeira Duarte, among others. More recently, the Portuguese Pestana Group has set up a large dimension real estate complex near the Luanda bay, called Pestana Luanda Bay.
On the other hand, Angola's investments in Portugal have been increasing in the past few years. Besides the Angolan presence in Portugal's real estate, financial and energy sectors, the telecommunication sector deserves some attention. Through the Angolan company Unitel, Angola has been increasing its presence in Portugal telecommunication sector. Unitel owns a relevant share of "Nós", a recently created company through a merger process between Zon and Optimus. "Nós" has consolidated itself as the main competitor of MEO, a traditional company in Portuguese telecommunication sector.
